I didn't always pray for my husband. Maybe a prayer here and there, but over the years making this a daily habit has brought great rewards! Praying for my husband helps me to have a soft heart towards him and build him up instead of tear him down, which back in the day I was pretty good at. Praying for my husband has changed the way I see and treat him- all for the better!

Be a Praying Wife

“The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” James 5:16

Praying is actively is partnering with God! As wives, one of the most powerful things we can do is to stand in the gap for our husbands through prayer. Prayer is a privilege that carries eternal weight and shapes the atmosphere of the our home. Prayer invites God's presence into every detail... even the most intimate secrets that can't be put into words. Nothing is better than praying in the name of Jesus.

Pray for His Heart

“And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you.” Ezekiel 36:26

Ask God to soften and guard the hearts of our husbands, to fill them with all the fruits of the spirit and to have a devotion to Christ. When the heart is aligned with God, everything else follows. A home filled with love is the biggest gift you can ever give to your children- what an advantage they will have in life! Nothing is better than a man who loves Jesus.

Pray for His Mind

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” Romans 12:2

Husbands face countless uphill battles and we all know, we need strong men. Ask for thoughts to be rooted in truth- so he doesn't fear, his mind to be renewed- so he can fight temptation, and for peace to replace anxiety- keeping discouragement at bay. They will be like a strong tower. Nothing is better than a man who knows Jesus.

Pray Over His Decisions

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5–6

We all need help with decisions. Whether it's family, career, or personal choices, husbands need wisdom. Ask the Holy Spirit to be his guide and give him clarity, courage, and discernment. When God's direcection leads, we mess up a lot less! At least I do! Nothing is better than a man who follows Jesus.

Pray for Unity

“So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” Matthew 19:6

United marriages don't just happen- they are created. Ask God to protect your relationship from division, miscommunication, and bitterness- and in it's place ask for a deep emotional and spiritual connection sprinkled with grace to love each other as Christ loves, and to forgive.... Because we all know the old saying "A woman never forgets!" I know I don't! Nothing is better than a marriage rooted in Jesus.

Invite God Into the Center

“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” Psalm 127:1

Prayer brings God into the very core of relationships. It's not a last resort- it’s the starting point. This allows for God's power to really move in your life and to saturate your marriage. For many the end results are strong homes built on the solid foundation of Christ! Nothing is better than Jesus!

Reflection & Challenge

  • How might your marriage grow if prayer became a regular, shared rhythm?

  • Are there hurts, fears, or frustrations you need to bring before God in prayer instead of carrying alone?

Prayer

“Lord, thank You for the gift of my husband. Teach me to be a faithful prayer warrior for him. Strengthen his heart, renew his mind, guide his steps, and bless our unity. Let Your presence fill our marriage and help me to trust You with every part of our journey. In Jesus name, Amen.”
