Mom life - - - it’s beautiful, it’s fun, and it’s pure chaos! Sometimes it feels like we don’t even have time to try to find time!

Once upon a pre-baby era, I actually bragged to a friend about my amazing morning routine — reading my Bible and spending quiet time with God before my feet even hit the floor. I said it with the confidence of a woman who had two older kids and had clearly forgotten what it was like to have a baby in the house. My poor friend, who had three toddlers climbing her like a jungle gym, just smiled politely. I’m pretty sure she was thinking, “Good for you, Saint Shay. Call me when you’ve had a baby hang off your leg while brushing your teeth.”

Fast forward a couple of years- - - enter one bouncing baby boy and goodbye to that peaceful morning routine. Let’s just say God served me a big ol’ slice of humble pie… extra whipped cream on top. Turns out, even the best-intentioned plans for spiritual growth tend to fly right out the window somewhere between diaper blowouts and 2 a.m. feedings.

Trying to find a quiet moment with God felt like hunting for unicorns ~ mythical, rare, and probably hiding behind a pile of laundry. But here’s the plot twist: the busier life got, the more I realized I needed those moments with God. I was running on fumes, and spiritually speaking, my tank was emptier than a toddler’s snack bowl.

So, I got creative. I prayed everywhere... in the car, in the grocery store, while cooking, cleaning, and even while walking the dog (he was converted early). Once my little guy finally drifted off to sleep, I’d grab my Bible and read whatever verses my half-asleep brain could manage. Sometimes it was two chapters… sometimes it was two sentences. But even those tiny moments made a huge difference.

These days, life is a lot quieter with my husband and one 10-year-old boy at home. I’ve got my mornings back, but I still pray everywhere I go. It’s become my favorite habit ! Honestly, it keeps me laughing, grounded, and centered on Christ all day long.

Because if motherhood has taught me anything, it’s this: sometimes your quiet time with God comes with background noise, sticky fingers, and cold coffee… and that’s perfectly okay.

“Pray without ceasing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Even in the chaos, even in the carpool line, God hears every whispered prayer.
