Christ Is the Foundation

“For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:11

Jesus must not just be a part of marriage, He must be the cornerstone. Without spending time with Him and reading His Word, even the most well-intentioned union can falter under the pressures of life. With Him, every area of our life is rooted on a that firm foundation, the rock of Christ.

Prioritize Personal Faith

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” James 4:8

Nurturing a personal walk with Christ is essential, and dedicating time for personal prayer is a must. This strong, individual relationship with Jesus empowers us to love selflessly and forgive freely. There are moments when only a heartfelt conversation with Him can bring peace and clarity. These intimate moments, where our souls connect with our Creator, need to be private and intentional. Allowing him to deal with us in areas others cannot see or touch.

Seek God Together

“Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Matthew 18:19-20

Pray together. Pray about your needs, dreams, wants and worries. As you seek God together, you will find Him drawing you closer to each other. It may feel uncomfortable in the begining. It may be hard to find the time. Start with baby steps...this can be as simple as a few heartfelt words. This small act is a powerful way to invite God in.

Stay Grounded in the Word

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105

Reading Scripture together helps align our minds with God's truth. His Word provides guidance in moments of confusion, comfort in seasons of trial, and wisdom for every decision. Taking the time to read our Bibles helps shape the way we talk, choices we make, and our personalities. If this is a struggle try to listen in the car together, download an app and go over it, or buy a bible that is easy for both of you to read.

Reflection & Challenge

  • Are you inviting Jesus into your daily conversations, decisions, and plans?

  • Do you pray together consistently and read God’s Word as a couple?

  • Is your marriage defined more by your love for each other or your shared love for Christ?

Prayer

“Lord Jesus, be the center of our marriage. Let everything we say and do reflect You. Help us to seek You daily, together and as one. Strengthen our love as we share our hearts with You, and keep us rooted in Your presence at every turn. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.”
