Some simple truths about Jesus

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1
“For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily.” Colossians 2:9
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” Hebrews 4:15

I believe Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully human. This truth changes everything.

As God, He has always existed. He has authority to forgive sins, power to heal, and the right to receive worship. Yet He chose to step into my world as a man. He was born of a woman, experienced hunger, grew tired, and knew what it felt like to cry. He understands my struggles, but unlike me, He never sinned. This makes Him the perfect bridge between God and me... God and all people.

Jesus came with a mission: to save little ole' me.. and little ole' you! What Good News! I could never reach God on my own, so He came to take my place. On the cross, He bore my punishment. As Isaiah says, “He was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities” (Isaiah 53:5). His death was the ultimate sacrifice of love.

But death did not hold Him. On the third day, He rose again. Paul reminds me, “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins” (1 Corinthians 15:17). The resurrection is the proof that He is the Son of God and the promise that I, too, will live with Him forever.

Jesus also fulfills many roles in my life:

  • As Prophet, He speaks God’s truth and shows me the way to live.

  • As Priest, He offers Himself as the perfect sacrifice and intercedes for me daily.

  • As King, He reigns with love and justice, and one day His kingdom will be fully revealed.

  • As Savior, He rescues me from sin, death, and eternal separation from God.

  • As Judge, He will one day return to judge all people with righteousness and truth.

Knowing Jesus in these roles reminds me that He is not distant- He is right here with me all the time! He is my Savior, Father, Lord, and Friend. He gave His life for me, and now my response is to love Him, follow Him, and place my hope fully in Him.

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” – Luke 19:10

This is a key verse and very easily sums it all up! What a gift we have in Jesus!

Because of who He is, I cannot give Him only part of my life. Jesus gave His all for me. His time, His love, His blood, and His life... how could I only follow Him halfway? To live half-committed is to miss the joy of fully knowing Him. I want to be 100% devoted, holding nothing back, because He is worthy of my whole heart, not just pieces of it.

Prayer

"Father God, thank You for being both God and man. Thank You for coming to rescue me through Your death and resurrection. Help me to follow You as my Prophet, Priest, King, Savior, and Judge. Teach me to live in Your truth and to tell the Good News. To walk in Your love and show the world who You are by my actions. To trust You with my whole heart 100%- all the time, no matter the season or the cost. In Jesus name, Amen."
